Convention on the Caspian Sea legal status to be discussed at the ministerial meeting in Astana

Almaty. July 5. Silkroadnews – The Caspian states’ foreign ministers meeting to be held in Astana, press service of Kazakhstani Ministry of Foreign Affairs informs.

“On July 13, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan will carry out the meeting of foreign ministers of the Caspian states, chaired by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan Erlan Idrissov,” the statement informed on Tuesday.

Foreign ministers of the “Caspian Five” – Azerbaijan, Iran, Russia and Turkmenistan – are expected to take part in the meeting.

The focus of the upcoming talks is to agree on a draft convention on the legal status of the Caspian Sea, discuss the progress achieved in some areas of cooperation in the Caspian Sea, as well as issues related to preparations for the V Caspian summit to be hosted by Kazakhstan.
