Copper production in Uzbekistan in 2014 increased by 1.5% to 99.5 thousand tons

Almaty. February 19. Silkroadnews - "Almalyk Mining and Metallurgical Plant" (AMMC), the monopoly producer of copper in Uzbekistan in 2014 increased the production of copper cathodes by 1.5% compared to 2013 - up to 99.5 thousand tons, reported KazTAG.
AMMC is looking for new markets in Asia against the backdrop of a significant reduction in demand from traditional buyers in Turkey, the EU and the Middle East.
Almalyk MMC is the only copper producer in Uzbekistan. The raw material base of the company are copper-porphyry ores  of Kalmakyr and Sarah-Ceku in Tashkent region, the deposit of lead-zinc-barite ore of Uch-Kulach in Jizzakh region, as well as deposits of polymetallic ores in Khandiza Kashkadarya region in the south.
The plant produces refined copper, zinc metal, lead concentrate and other products. The share of AMMC in Uzbekistan accounts for about 90% of silver and 20% - in gold.
