Crude oil production in China fell by 2.3% in June

Beijing. Jul 18. Silkroadnews - Crude oil output in China decreased 2.3% year-on-year in June, Sina.com wrote referring to the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) reported.
Last month crude oil output made 15.85 million tonnes, and 49.78 million tonnes of oil were refined, which is an 8% increase compared to last year.
China is one of the world’s largest buyers of oil, with over 60% of oil consumption imported. In the first half of the year the country imported 225 million tonnes of crude oil, which is 5.8% more compared to the same period last year.
At the same time, natural gas production in June amounted to 12.18 billion cubic meters, gaining 5.6% year on year.
China seeks to increase its crude oil production to 200 million tonnes by 2020, and the volume of natural gas supplies should exceed 360 billion cubic meters.
The major tasks of the oil industry include accelerating exploration to ensure domestic supply of oil, speed up the construction of pipeline networks and develop clean energy alternatives.
