Customs Union countries excluded stipulation on common citizenship from Eurasian Economic Union agreement
Astana. May 27. Silkroadnews – Eurasian Economic Union of Russian, Belarus and Kazakhstan is to be a purely economic formation, as Kazakh Deputy Foreign Affairs Minister Samat Ordabayev stated this Monday.
“Thanks to Kazakhstan’s consistent approach, a number of stipulations was excluded from the agreement. It is such issues as common citizenship, foreign policy, inter-parliamentary cooperation, passport and visa issues, common border security, export control and other issues”, Mister Ordabayev said.
Kremlin Press Office has reported on Monday that the agreement is to be signed on the 29th of May, when Presidents of Kazakhstan, Belarus and Russia are to meet in Astana. The document is to come into force on 1st of January, 2015.
As anticipated, the issues of possible inclusion of other countries to Eurasian Economic Union are to be discussed in Astana. This might include Armenia and, in a more distant future, Kyrgyzstan.
