Almaty. April 20. Silkroadnews – Devaluation risk are quite high in Central Asian countries for this year, KazTAG reports quoting Agris Preymanis, deputy director of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) for Central Asia (CA), saying.

“Kazakhstan is distinguished by a special resistance. The other countries in the region (CA – Silkroadnews) are now subject to a sufficiently large stress due to structural problems in the economy ... If we look to the future, if we look at 2016, we see the countries that are related to Russia, that is, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, will be in quite a tough situation. We see even lower growth projections, higher devaluation risks  – it all means the situation is quite a fragile,” A. Preymanis said at the mining forum in Astana on Wednesday.

According to him, these countries’ economies have been experiencing such a fragile state for two years already, and 2016 promises to be even more difficult for them.
