Drug trafficking growth from Afghanistan through Central Asian states is a subject of concern at the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation

Almaty. December 6. Silkroadnews – Russian Minister of Internal Affairs Vladimir Kolokoltsev said about the increase in heroin trafficking from Afghanistan through Central Asia to Russia, TASS reports.

At the graduation ceremony of group of specialists for anti-drug agencies of Afghanistan and Central Asian countries V. Kolokoltsev emphasized the problem of a rise in the transnational crime, noting the increase in drug trafficking, in particular the increase in heroin trafficking from Afghanistan through Central Asia to Russia.

“In the situation formed in recent years we should unite the efforts of all relevant agencies in the fight against this dangerous threat. And we believe it essential to raise the professional level of employees of anti-drug units of Afghanistan and Central Asia,” he emphasized.

Training of staff of anti-drug agencies of Afghanistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan was held in the framework of the joint project by Russia, Japan and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime.

According to the head of the Russian Internal Affairs Ministry, being implemented since 2012 this joint project serves as a significant contribution to strengthen regional security and is one of the most successful and modern projects, which geography grows continuously.
