Almaty. September 25. Silkroadnews – The earthquake in North Korea was caused by natural causes, Chinese experts believe, NDTV channel said.
“A shallow 3.5-magnitude earthquake which hit North Korea near the country’s nuclear test site on Saturday was not the result of a fresh nuclear test, China’s seismic service said, after initially reporting a “suspected explosion”,” the report said.
It is noted that the Chinese Academy of Sciences also published a report saying the earthquake is likely a “lagged collapse earthquake”, which coincides with the hypothesis by the international experts that the earthquake was a delayed repercussion of a previous detonation.
The agency reminds, the most resent nuclear test, conducted by North Korea on September 3, was the most powerful in the country, which caused a much stronger earthquake of 6.3-magnitude, which was felt even in China. It is noted that the strength of the Saturday earthquake was much lower than the strength of the tremors that accompanied any of North Korea’s previous nuclear tests, including the first explosion in 2006, which triggered a 4.1-magnitude.
