Silkroadnews - According to a press release of EEC, on March 26 in Budapest, the delegation of the Eurasian Economic Commission headed by a member of the board for industry and agriculture Sergei Sidorsky met with the Deputy Director General of the FAO Regional Representative for Europe and Central Asia Vladimir Rachmanin.
"Parties adopted a plan of joint activities for the 2015-2018 years. The implementation of the action plan will promote practical cooperation with FAO on Agrarian Policy and Food Security", - said in a statement.
Thus, the priority areas of collaboration are plant production and protection, livestock and animal health, food policy, as well as joint research in the field of new agricultural technologies.
In addition, participants discussed the issues of practical implementation of the agreements reached in the framework of the existing Memorandum of Understanding between EEC and FAO. V.Rahmanin noted the importance of expanding cooperation with the countries of the Eurasian region and highlighted the main areas of FAO's work with the countries of the EAEC.
In turn, Sergei Sidorsky told about the main directions of agrarian policy of the member countries Union, noting the importance of cooperation in order to create uniform rules for veterinary and phytosanitary control within the EAEC. Minister of ECE urged FAO to actively promote veterinary and phytosanitary security outside the Union.
