Emomali Rakhmon can become the president for life in Tajikistan

Almaty. January 14. Silkroadnews - Emomali Rahmon can become the president-for-life of Tajikistan, TajikTA reports.
“The current Tajik President Emomali Rahmon can be re-elected for the presidency an unlimited number of times”, a draft of the amendments prepared to the Constitution of Tajikistan states.
In particular, Article 65 states to be nominated to the post of the President the candidate shall be a citizen to the Republic of Tajikistan only, not younger than 30 years old, speaking the state language and permanently live on the territory of the republic at least for the last 10 years. This article is supplemented with the 5th part specifying that the limitations provided by the 4th of part of this article shall not apply to the founder of the peace and national unity Leader of the nation.
“The legal status and power of the founder of peace and national unity the Leader of the nation determine the constitutional law”, the document says.
TajikTA reminds according to current 65th article the President of Tajikistan shall be elected by the citizens of Tajikistan on the basis of universal, direct, and equal suffrage by secret ballot for a term of 7 years and every citizen of the Republic of Tajikistan not younger than 35 years old speaking the state language and permanently living on the territory of the republic at least for the last 10 years can be nominated to the post of the President.
“Only a person whose nomination is signed by at least five percent of the electorate shall be eligible for candidacy to the post of President. One person shall not be elected consecutively to the position of President for more than two term of office”, the existing articles of the law states today.
According to experts, the passage of the law in the new edition will give the right to nominate his candidacy in the upcoming 2020 presidential elections to the eldest son of the current President Emomali Rahmon, Rustam Emomali, who will turn 33 in 2020.
To remind, on December 25, 2015, President Rahmon received the status of “Leader of the Nation” having signed the law “On the founder of peace and national unity Leader of the Nation” earlier approved by the parliament of Tajikistan. The law includes 16 articles on the definitions of “the founder of peace, national unity and the leader of the nation”, powers integrity, security and social guarantees of the person, institution of state awards and prizes.
