EU shall discuss a cooperation in the oil and gas sector in Iran
Almaty. February 19. Silkroadnews - The European Commission delegation has arrived in Tehran to explore the cooperation with Iran in the energy sector following the removal of the international sanctions against the Islamic Republic, Trend reports.
The delegation headed by Gerassimos Thomas, deputy director general at the European Commission’s Energy Directorate, is holding meetings with officials from oil and energy ministry as well as the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran.
During the meeting the sides discussed bilateral cooperation in the energy sector, plan of cooperation in the oil and gas sector, ways to improve the energy efficiency, renewable energy sources (RES) issues.
On July 14, 2015, Iran and the “six” international negotiators (Russia, China, US, France, Britain and Germany) reached a historic agreement on the settlement of long-term problems of the Iranian atom.
Lasted for more than 10 years the negotiations resulted in the adoption of the joint comprehensive action plan, which implementation removes from Iran the economic and financial sanctions by the UN Security Council, the United States and the European Union in exchange for the verification of the peaceful nature of Iran’s nuclear program.
