Europe must abandon the policy of double standards in the fight against terrorism - Iran Ombudsman

Tehran. July 3. Silkroadnews - General Secretary of the Council for Human Rights of Iran Mohammad Javad Larijani said that European states are home to various types of terrorist and extremist groups, reports IrTAG.
"While international law defines the fight against terrorism as a commitment by all countries of the world, we, unfortunately, seeing as European countries have become a safe haven for all sorts of terrorists" - he said during a meeting with the General Secretary on the bilateral relations of the Belgian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Johan van Dessel.
He added that some of the terrorists, whose hands have the blood of his innocent countrymen, even live in Belgium and have unimpeded movement on the territory of this country.
At the same time, M. Larijani condemned the policy of double standards pursued by Western governments in the fight against terrorism. He pointed to the Islamic republic's unchanged position on the issue.
In turn, a Belgian diplomat expressed concern about the increase in terrorist activity in the world, highlighting the need for concerted efforts of the international community to eradicate this negative phenomenon.
Y.Dessel admitted that the militants fighting against the government of Bashar al-Assad in Syria, there is a sufficiently large number of Europeans, including those of Belgium.
