Extremists group Hizb ut-Tahrir has been uncovered in Tashkent

Almaty. November 29. Silkroadnews - Law enforcement agencies uncovered an underground network of the religious-extremist organization Hizb ut-Tahrir operating in Tashkent, the Uzbek Telegraph Agency (UzTAG) reported referring to the statement by Uzbekistan’s Central Internal Affairs Directorate.
“The investigation is ongoing on the issue. The group participants have been detained and held in custody. The organization is banned in Uzbekistan, Russia and a number of other countries. All the arrests took place last week,” the police said.
The investigators also search for Guzal Tokhtakhodzhaeva, accused of committing grave and particularly serious crimes under articles 159 (Infringement on constitutional system of the Republic of Uzbekistan) and 244-2 (establishing, managing participation in religious extremist, separatist, fundamentalist or other banned organizations) code of Uzbekistan.
“Guzal Tokhtakhodzhaeva has been wanted by law enforcement agencies since 2009 for taking part in the activities of Hizb ut-Tahrir”. She hid out among the supporters of the organization,” the statement by the Central Internal Affairs Directorate says.
To remind, the operation of the underground organization “Hizb ut-Tahrir” was uncovered in Tashkent back in 2015. 16 activists of the banned organization have been detained that time.
