Famous “Afrosiab Ambassadors” mural is to undergo restoration in Uzbekistan

Tashkent. May 4. Silkroadnews – Famous Afrosiab museum decided to send its famous Sogdian masterpiece to restoration.
As French Embassy in Uzbekistan informs, the “Afrosiab Ambabassadors” mural dates back to VII century AD. It is in the need of immediate restoration, otherwise its condition will deteriorate.
Joint French and Uzbek Archaeological mission teamed up with Uzbek Ministry of Culture and Sports to raise money for restoration internationally. The project is supported by the UNESCO office in Tashkent.
The mural restoration will take 4 years. The process will be managed by Geraldine Fray, the French expert, in cooperation with Marina Reutova from the Chemical and technological restoration department of Archaeology Institute of Uzbekistan Academy of Sciences.
South Korea, France, Sweden and the USA are to finance this project.
