First phase of Hongyanhe NPP construction is completed in Northeast China

Almaty. September 21. Silkroadnews – Liaoning energy company Hongyanhe announced the completion of construction of the first phase of Hongyanhe nuclear power plant, which is the first nuclear power plant and the largest energy project in the Northeast China, «People's Daily» reports.

Liao Weiming, general manager of the company, said in average the share of domestic components and technologies applied in the construction of the first nuclear power plant exceeded 75%. It is for the first time when some core equipment used in the course of construction was produced domestically.

The Hongyanhe NPP is the first commercial nuclear power plant in Northeast China. Its construction began in August 2007. According to the plan, the nuclear power plant will include six power units with a unit capacity of more than 1 million kW. The first phase provided for construction of four blocks to be followed by the second phase with construction of another two blocks. Construction of the NPP second phase began in 2015 and is expected to be completed in 2021.
