For participation in the construction of Silk Road Corridor, the US authorities need to increase funding - expert
Astana. 10 September. SIlkroadnews - United States of America should pay more attention and allocate more funds for the creation of transport corridors of the new Silk Road. This was stated by Director of the Program on Eurasia and Central Asia at the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) of US Jeffrey Mankoff.
"If we want to talk seriously about the construction of the new Silk Road, we definitely need to allocate adequate funding for the implementation of planned projects. At the same time we need to think about the prospects, opportunities and limit our ability to participate in the construction of transport corridor of the new Silk Road",- said J. Mankoff at the briefing on the results of the study of CSIS on Thursday.
He recalled that in 2011, in India, former US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton made a speech and announced about plans to build a new Silk Road through Central Asia.
"But since then, has been allocated a very small part of the funding that is needed for this project", - stated the expert.
In addition, J. Mankoff stressed that US policy toward Central Asian countries should count on trade and investment.
