For six months Tajikistan’s budget increased by nearly $82 million driven by tourists

Almaty. July 15. Silkroadnews – For the first half of 2016 Tajikistan’s budget increased by nearly $82 million driven by tourists, Tajik Telegraph Agency (TajikTA) reports.

“For six months of 2016 tourists brought Tajikistan $81.994 million, or $8.361 million more compared to the same period of 2015”, Abdullozoda Ahtam, Chairman of the Committee on Youth, Sports and Tourism, said.

According to him, as a whole 209.511 thousand foreign citizens visited Tajikistan during this period. 163.988 thousand people came as tourists, which is 11% higher compared to the previous year.

“By 2020 Tajikistan plans to increase the number of tourists up to 1 million,” A. Abdullozoda added.

To remind, the total revenue that Tajikistan received from the tourists’ visits in 2015 amounted to $206 million.

Tajikistan is quite popular for representatives of the CIS countries – Azerbaijan, Armenia, Russia and Uzbekistan.
