For the first quarter of 2016 Tajikistan’s GDP grew by 6.5%

Almaty. April 22. Silkroadnews – Gross domestic product (GDP) of Tajikistan grew by 6.5% in the first quarter of this year, TajikTA reports.

“The volume of Tajikistan’s GDP in the first quarter of this year amounted to 9 billion 332 million somoni ($1 billion 187 million). Compared with the same period of last year, the country’s GDP increased by 6.5% in comparable prices,” reported the Agency on Statistics under the President of Tajikistan.

22% in the GDP structure for January-March 2016 come from trade, repair of motor vehicles, household goods and personal items, as well as from the services of hotels and restaurants.

Industry, including the energy sector, makes 17.4% in the GDP structure, followed by transport, communication and storage making 15.1% as a total and 14.2% made by taxes. The share of construction reduced to 8.1% from last year’s 8.8%.

One shall note this year the government of the republic targeted at 7% growth of GDP.
Last year Tajikistan’s GDP amounted to 48.4 billion somoni ($ 6 billion 157 million) with a 6% increase versus the previous year in comparable prices.
