Foreign journalists signed the petition to the President of Kazakhstan calling to protect the Head of the Union of Journalists of Kazakhstan from lawlessness

Almaty. September 22. Silkroadnews – Foreign journalists signed the petition to the President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev calling to protect the Head of the Union of Journalists of Kazakhstan Seitkazy Matayev and General Director of KazTAG news agency Asset Matayev from lawlessness, the agency reports.

«The Union of Journalists of the Novosibirsk region that I head have been working with the Union of Journalists of Kazakhstan for ten years. We cannot stay out of the Matayevs case! The journalistic community of the Novosibirsk region of Russia requires an objective examination of their hypothetical «trespasses». From what we have found from open information sources it looks like the criminal case of the Matayevs is nothing but the ordinary «order». The only question remains whose order it is?», Andrei Chelnokov, the head of the Union of Novosibirsk Journalists of Russia, has written.

In her turn the journalist from Kostroma Zinaida Savina called S. Matayev the national treasure of Kazakhstan.

Yerzhan Dosmukhamedov from Washington DC, US, called for urgent cessation of human rights violations.
«Kazakhstan has become an authoritarian state with law enforcement agencies similar to Stalin's lawlessness of 1937. Our compatriots Matayevs should be released immediately. Abuse of the country's citizens deprived of their fundamental human rights is to be stopped urgently», he wrote.

«The Matayevs have always been decent and honest people!», Askar Turdugulov from Bishkek wrote.

Renowned Kazakhstani film director Yermek Tursunov also joined the petition. «My support to Seitkazy and Asset!», he wrote.

According to «365 info» portal General Producer Dmitry Batsiyev, «you can hardly find such another respected person as Seitkazy among the journalists».

The accusations groundlessness has been emphasized by Advisor to Alma TV Director General Alexander Lyakhov. «In any lawsuit charges must be substantiated, investigation – a legitimate and court proceedings – honest. Unfortunately, I do not see anything like this in the proceedings on case of Matayevs», he said.

The petition to the President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev has also been signed by people from the near abroad – St. Petersburg, Novorossiysk, Kostroma, Pyatigorsk, Bishkek; and from Kazakhstan – Almaty, Astana, Pavlodar, Aktobe, Atyrau, Aral, Baikonur, Kostanay, Ekibastuz, Temirtau, Karaganda, Kokshektau, Kyzylorda, Saryagash, Shymkent, Petropavlovsk, Uralsk, Semey, Zhanaozen, etc.
