Foreign Ministers of Afghanistan, Pakistan and China held talks in Beijing
Almaty. December 27. Silkroadnews - The first Trilateral China-Afghanistan-Pakistan Foreign Minister’s Dialogue to discuss the issues of cooperation between Kabul and Islamabad was held in Beijing on Tuesday, the Afghan Telegraph Agency (AfTAG) reports.
The dialogue organized on the initiative of the People’s Republic of China was held with participation of the Afghan Foreign Minister Salahuddin Rabbani, his Pakistani counterpart Khawaja Muhammad Asif and the head of the Chinese foreign policy department Wang Yi.
The sides discussed the issues of development of cooperation both in fields of economy and security, in particular, in the framework of the process of reconciliation in Afghanistan.
Wand Yi said, the participants called on the Taliban to join the peace process, and Pakistan announced its support for peace talks between the Taliban and the Afghan government, having added China will also support the Afghan reconciliation process.
With this the Chinese minister stressed the need to continue the joint participation of the parties in fight against terrorism and extremism posing common threats to regional states.
Next trilateral meeting is scheduled to be held in February next year, its agenda will include discussion of more specific issues of cooperation.
