Former prisoners to help building EXPO-2017 facilities

Astana. June 5. Silkroadnews – Former prisoners are to participate in construction of EXPO-2017 facilities in Astana, as the Prosecutor’s Office of that City informs.
“Astana EXPO-2017 National Committee signed a memorandum on cooperation with the Penitentiary Department. This agreement was initiated by Astana Prosecutor’s Office”, as the message posted on Astana Prosecutor’s webpage states.
The main goal of this initiative is to increase employment among former prisoners and offenders. This is to be done by both making them work for construction contractors and employing them to provide materials used in construction.
“We are confident that cooperation between “Astana EXPO-2017” and the Penitentiary Department’s enterprises will prove mutually beneficial. It will also provide a significant portion of former prisoner with paid employment for the next 2 or 3 years”, the message states.
The working group that is to be responsible for technical implementation of this unusual project is being set up at the moment. Both parties are to be represented in this working group. As for the practical implementation of this Project, Astana Prosecutor’s Office is to oversee this process.
