French Court allows Russia and Ukraine to participate in Ablyazov extradition Court hearings

Almaty. June 4. Silkroadnews - French Court has allowed Russia and Ukraine to participate in Court hearings on extradition of former CEO of BTA bank, Mukhtar Ablyazov, as French Le Parisien reports.
"Russia and Ukraine was allowed to participate in Court hearings by the Investigative Chamber of the Lyon Court of Appeals. The Court considers request for extradition of Mukhtar Ablyazov. This oligarch and opposition leader has been kept under jurisdiction of French authorities since summer 2013", the article states.
As reported earlier, Court of Cassation has cancelled the extradition process of an exiled oligarch on the 9th of April. Last February, the French Court has decided to extradite former Kazakh Banker to Russia.
Kazakh law enforcement agencies continue to investigate criminal offences related to creation and management of a criminal band, embezzlement of over USD 5 bln of BTA Bank assets and its further legalisation of these assets.
In addition to this, he is also wanted in Russia and Ukraine for a number of crimes. Mister Ablyazov's activities are also subject to investigation in Hungary, Cyprus and Latvia. Moreover, in February 2012, the London High Court has sentenced Ablyazov to 22 months in prison for disrespect of the court. However, he managed to escape from British authorities.
On the 9th of January, the Court decided Ukraine and Russia both had legitimate grounds to be requesting his extradition. However, French legal authorities gave priority to Ablyazov's extradition to Russia.
