Almaty. January 30. Silkroadnews – The volume of natural gas supplies from the Tarim oil and gas basin to the east China exceeded 180 billion cubic meters, “Xinhua” agency informs.

As reported in the Tarim oil company of China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC), the proven gas reserves in the Tarim oil and gas field are estimated at 1.96 trillion cubic meters, more than 30 gas wells were put into operation last year, new gas production capacities exceed 1.4 billion cubic meters.

Annually the Tarim oil and gas basin provides more than 18 billion cubic meters of gas.

In addition to supplies to the east of the country, the field also supplies gas to various regions of the south of Xinjiang. The annual volume of gas supplies from the Tarim field to the southern regions of Xinjiang exceeds 3 billion cubic meters, with total volume delivered from the field to the south of Xinjiang is already more than 21.6 billion cubic meters.

As the Tarim oil company of CNPC reported, the integration of infrastructure has been carried out between the Tarim oil and gas basin and projects ensuring gas supplies to the south of Xinjiang and to the east of the country. A number of measures have also been undertaken to increase natural gas supplies in these areas in winter season.

The Tarim oil and gas basin is considered as one of the most difficult area in terms of energy resources exploration in the world. In 2016 its production volume amounted to 23.562 billion cubic meters of gas, out of which 19.3 billion cubic meters were delivered to the east of the country. The field is one of the major sources for transportation of natural gas from the west to the east of the country.
