Almaty. June 11. KazTAG - Two businessmen from Germany illegally supplied weapons to Kazakhstan, reports Deutsche Welle.
"The Regional Court of Tübingen in Germany began its consideration of the case against the two businessmen, 59-year-old and 37-year-old businessman from Metzingen, who supplied weapons to the security forces under the President of Kazakhstan. About five years the accused managed to order various weapons from manufacturers and pass it to Kazakhstan, bypassing the German laws",- said the publication with reference to the prosecutor Berhard Hen.
Thus, according to the Prosecutor's Office, entrepreneurs from the city of Metzingen in the federal state of Baden-Wuerttemberg in 2004 entered into an agreement with the Presidential Guard of Kazakhstan, as well as anti-terrorist unit of Kazakhstan.
"They organized at least 26 deliveries of arms and ammunition from Germany, France, Finland, Switzerland and New Zealand", - explained in the message.
As it turned out, to Kazakhstan was illegally sold more than 30 assault and sniper rifles, 350 pistols, thousands of grenades and about 150 thousand of ammunition. Deliveries containing 18 rocket-propelled grenades, and more than a dozen assault rifles, were stopped by the Swiss authorities.
"The illegal business was discovered in 2010, when customs officers stopped a regular supply of grenades and ammunition at the airport in Frankfurt. Detained in Germany did not have a special permit for the arms trade business. Pre-court scheduled 23 meetings", - the report says.
