Almaty. January 26. Silkroadnews - In 2015 the volume of gold and currency reserves of the National Bank of Tajikistan increased by 40%, the Tajik news agency (TajikTA) reported on Tuesday.
“The total volume of gold and foreign exchange reserves of the National Bank of Tajikistan (NBT) at the end of 2015 increased up to 40%, while the international reserves grew by 28%,” - said the chairman of NBT Jamshed Nurmahmadzoda.
According to him, this volume of gold and foreign exchange reserves consists of foreign currency assets and gold.
However, he did not specify the total amount of gold, having said only the pure gold reserves increased by 2 tons.
D.Nurmahmadzoda noted the gold and currency reserves will be sufficient to provide the import of goods for the needs of the republic for 1.7 months.
This indicator has not yet reached the volume of the international standards accepted, providing for three months of the import of the goods in need.
The head of the NBT also noted that to increase the gold and foreign currency reserve the country will grow its gold reserves. Thus, all of the country’s volume of gold is bought by the National Bank and the Ministry of Finance.
To remind in 2014 the NBT reported that gold and currency reserves exceeded 2 billion 550 million Somoni ($481 million), and the gold reserves volume made 11 tons.
