Tehran. August 27. Silkroadnews - Iran and Russia should strengthen bilateral cooperation in order to mitigate thу negative impact of economic sanctions imposed by the West against economy of Tehran and Moscow, reports IrTAG.
As noted in the publication, such an opinion was expressed during a meeting co-chair of the Iran-Russia Parliamentary Friendship Group, member of the Parliament of Iran Ali Ramadan Subhanifar with the deputy of the State Duma of the Russian Federation Dmitriy Saveliev.
"The deepening of bilateral cooperation, definition of ways to reconcile the positions of our countries on a number of regional and international issues and identifying new opportunities for the expansion of trade and economic relations, will undoubtedly contribute to neutralize the effects of the sanctions", - said the Iranian parliamentarian during a meeting in Tehran yesterday.
In particular, R. Subhanifar noted that the expansion of ties between the two countries will create favorable conditions for the further development of political, economic and humanitarian contacts between Tehran and Moscow.
He stressed the need to make full use of the existing potential for deepening mutually beneficial cooperation in the field of industrial production, agriculture and trade, and called for the delivery of a substantial state support to the private sector of both countries.
In turn, D. Savelyev, who is also a member of the Iran-Russia Parliamentary Friendship Group, suggested to increase cooperation between the legislatures of Russia and Iran, which will help to bring relations between the two countries to a higher quality level. Russian MP urged to speed up the process of implementation of previously signed Iran-Russian agreements on trade and economic cooperation.
Trade turnover between Iran and Russia reached $5 billion per year, which, according to most analysts, does not reflect the existing potential of the two countries for trade and economic cooperation.
