Beijing. January 23. Silkroadnews - Hainan Airlines gives small pets ticket to fly, China Daily reports.
“Hainan Airlines has said it will allow some pets to travel with their human companions in the cabin, making it the first domestic commercial airline to do so,” the report said.
It is noted that passengers who are going to take their cats or dogs with them onboard must obey certain rules and regulations. “First, the pet must be in a carrier small enough to fit under an airplane seat, with a maximum weight of 5 kilograms. The carrier must be within 35 centimeters in length, 28 cm in width and 24 cm in height,” the publication reads.
Passengers should make in-cabin reservations for their pets 24 hours before departure, as the airline can only allow two pets on each flight. Only pets older than 6 months are permitted to be taken in cabin. Pet owners need to present certificates of vaccinations for their animals.
Passengers should not feed or water their pets during the flight, while pets should wear muzzles with absorbent pads. The fee for carrying a pet is 800 yuan ($125).
The first service is available for flights departing from nine cities, including Guangzhou, Qingdao, Changsha, Haikou and Xiamen.
