Head of National Security Council of Iran and the Syrian president discussed the fight against terrorism
Almaty. October 1. Silkroadnews - Secretary General of the Supreme Council for National Security Affairs Ali Shamhani and Syrian President Bashar al-Assad discussed the fight against terrorism, reports IrTAG.
"Tehran will continue to provide worldwide support to the government of Bashar al-Assad in its fight against terrorism and extremism. This was stated by Ali Shamhani meeting with Bashar al-Assad in Damascus",- says the publication.
"Iran's principled position is to continue to give full support to the friendly and brotherly country - Syria - which is at the forefront of the fight against terrorism", - said the secretary general.
A.Shamhani welcomed the efforts of the Government and the people of Syria to counter the rebels 'Islamic state' (IG), noting that the "broad support" of President Bashar al-Assad by the people of the country ensured the success of the Syrian army, allowing it to fight off the many strategically important towns and villages captured earlier by militants.
In turn, the head of Syria pointed to the importance of continuing and further expansion of measures to combat the IG and their extremist ideology which, according to him, fueled by some Western countries and states in the Middle East.
