Head of the Union of Journalists of Kazakhstan Seitkazy Matayev has been charged with six years' imprisonment
Almaty. October 3. Silkroadnews – Head of the Union of Journalists of Kazakhstan Seitkazy Matayev has been charged with six years' imprisonment, KazTAG reports.
«The court sentenced: Matayev Seitkazy has been found guilty (...) and finally charge Matayev Seitkazy with six years' imprisonment with confiscation of property obtained by criminal means or acquired with the funds obtained by criminal means with lifelong deprivation of the right to occupy executive positions related to organizational, distributional and financially responsible functions in the governmental and commercial organizations, with service of sentence in general penal colony», the judge of the Esil district court №2 of Astana Akbulat Kurmantaev said reading out the verdict on Monday.
S. Matayev has been taken in charge in the courtroom.
The court has also charged «KazTAG» news agency General Director Asset Matayev with five years' imprisonment, with lifelong deprivation of the right to occupy executive positions related to organizational and logistical responsibilities in the governmental and commercial organizations, with service of sentence in general penal colony.

To remind, the trial on the case of the chairman of the Union of Journalists of Kazakhstan S. Matayev and CEO of «KazTAG» news agency Asset Matayev began in Astana on August 23. The state prosecutor asked the court to convict S. Matayev under Art. 190 and 245 of the Criminal Code and sentence him to six years and eight months' imprisonment and A. Matayev – under Art. 190 to six years’ imprisonment.
In his «last word» S. Matayev said the names of those who ordered the criminal prosecution, including the speaker of Majilis of the Parliament Nurlan Nigmatulin. According to S. Matayev, N. Nigmatullin repeatedly demanded to give him the international news agency KazTAG in exchange for the closure of the criminal case.
