Hong Kong ranked the sixth most competitive country

Almaty. September 28. Silkroadnews – Hong Kong ranked the world’s sixth most competitive economy, Xinhua news agency reported.
“The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) has been ranked as the sixth most competitive economy in the world, according to the latest World Economic Forum (WEF) Global Competitiveness Index,” the report reads.
It is noted that Hong Kong rose three positions compared to last year. The WEF marked the infrastructure and efficiency of the Hong Kong market. The authors of research noted, Hong Kong has a healthy level of competition and openness, supported by strong and stable financial markets.
As reported, the top five included Switzerland, the United States, Singapore, the Netherlands and Germany. Mainland China ranked 27th, having risen one position compared to last year. Singapore dropped one position from last year, but ranked the third place, having kept its position of Asia’s most competitive economy.
Switzerland retained its leading position, ahead of the U.S.
Each year the Global Competitiveness Index ranks 137 countries on their ability to support inclusive growth, which provides positive change and benefits citizens and the environment. The index is compiled on the basis of 12 key indicators of competitiveness, including innovation, infrastructure and the macroeconomic environment.
