House and billiard club built on the uranium tailings in Mayly-Suu
Bishkek. March 14. Silkroadnews – A House and a billiard club were built on the uranium tailings in Mayly Suu, as reported by Zamir Kushubakov, the Director of uranium tailings agency of Kyrgyz Ministry for Emergency.
The inter-agency commission with representatives of sanitary inspection are already inspecting uranium tailings region #12, where it was built.
“So far, it seems like Mayly-Suu Mayoral office and architecture authority issued permits to build. The territory, where construction took place, contains over 2 000 cubic tonnes of uranium waste. Any construction in such a radioactive zone is a strict violation of health and safety protocol. It is not save for people’s lives to build anything there”, said Mister Kushubakov.
Mayly-Suu contains 23 uranium tailings and 13 dumps.
