IAEA experts examined uranium tailings in Kyrgyzstan

Almaty. October 27. Silkroadnews – The experts of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) examined the state of uranium tailings in Kyrgyzstan, KyrTAG reports.

“The experts visited sites and tailings in the villages Kaji-Sai, Min-Kush and Shefkaftar and town of Maili-Suu which are subject to remediation activities to evaluate the current status and activities within the framework of international projects. The CGULS works there was a joint plan of work to be carried out by the IAEA and MES in Kyrgyzstan”, the agency reports.

The results of the examination are not reported. The purpose of the support of the IAEA member states is the implementation of programs for the rehabilitation of uranium facilities.
