Illegally exported to Belgium historical artifacts returned to Iran
Almaty. December 26. Silkroadnews - Tehran brought a large collection of historical artifacts that had been illegally exported to Belgium shortly before the Islamic revolution in Iran, informs the Iranian News Agency (IrTAG) on Friday.
Return items of material culture in Iran was made possible after December 22 when Belgian Court of Appeal handed down the final verdict of Liege to the Organization for Culture, Tourism and crafts Iran (OKTRIRI).
This collection consists of more than 300 works of culture and handicrafts that were discovered during excavations by Iranian scholars of the ancient city 60 km west of Tehran. According to archaeologists, their age is more than three millennia.
As vice-president Massoud Sultonifar, after a ceremony organized on the occasion of the arrival of artifacts at Tehran airport "Mehrabad" antiquities shall be deposited in the National Museum of Iran.
