Almaty. October 23. Silkroadnews - International Monetary Fund (IMF) forecasts a slowdown of economic growth in Uzbekistan in 2015 and 2016, reported the Uzbek news agency (UzTAG).
"Growth in oil-exporting countries - Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan - will decline in 2015 by 1,5 percentage point to 3,75%, as economic activity continued to weaken as a result of lower oil prices and the downturn in the Russian economy", - said the IMF report "Regional Economic Outlook for the Middle East and Central Asia".
According to the IMF, in 2015 Uzbekistan's GDP will grow by 6.8%, in 2016 - by 7%.
Moreover, the IMF has kept the GDP forecast in Uzbekistan in 2016 due to the successful reorientation of long-term gas exports from Russia to China.
Inflation in 2016 may slightly drop - to 9.2% vs. 9.7% expected in 2015. The rise in prices at the end of 2014 was 8.4%. The current account in 2015 and 2016 will be almost 0 - 0.2% and 0.3% against 1.7% in 2014.
