In 2017, Tajikistan imported 1 million tons of wheat, mainly from Kazakhstan

Beijing. February 16. Silkroadnews - In 2017 Tajikistan imported more than 1 million tons of wheat, mainly produced in Kazakhstan, the Tajik Telegraph Agency (TajikTA) reported on Friday.
Last year Tajikistan imported 1.014 million tons of wheat (at an average price of $195 per ton), a 1.9% increase compared to 2016, head of the antimonopoly service under the government of the Republic of Tajikistan Sadi Codirzoda told journalists at the press conference.
According to him, major part of the wheat imports has come from Kazakhstan and there were 72 companies operating at the country’s wheat supplies market last year.
S. Codirzoda also noted that during this period about 54.6 thousand tons of flour were imported (at an average price of $248 per ton), which is a 38.4% decline versus 2016.
According to the antimonopoly service, last year the volume of flour production at domestic enterprises reached more than 647.5 thousand tons, a 11.3% growth compared to 2016.
