Almaty. June 23. Silkroadnews - In Afghanistan, there are more than 7 thousand foreign fighters. This was stated by the Permanent Representative of the country under the UN Zahir Tanin, said Afghan News Agency (AfTAG).
The Special Representative of the UN Secretary General in Afghanistan, Nicholas Haysom agreed with the evaluations. According to him, the reason for the increasing number of "extremists Army" in Afghanistan has become a military operation of the Pakistani military deployed in the region of North Vaziristan.
He noted that the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) documented the presence of extremists in areas that were previously considered safe, including in the provinces of Badakhshan and Kunduz.
Special Representative of the UN Secretary General called on countries in the region to more actively assist Kabul in the fight against militants. He emphasized that Afghanistan is one of the ten poorest countries in the world and should not be alone against the terrorists, "the ultimate goal of which are probably it's neighbors".
