In Beijing websites have been prohibited to post vulgar content and vulgar shows
Beijing. February 27. Silkroadnews - Beijing’s TV watchdog held talks with six news, social media and live streaming websites as they did not receive approval to air shows online, the Global Times reported.
The Beijing Municipal Bureau of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television accused the websites of not obtaining licenses required for broadcasting online.
Six websites, including the social media Sina Weibo, news website iFeng and the platform for the exchange of video files Miaopai.com broadcast audio and video programs that were not censored, some of which considered as frankly vulgar.
The sites were told to remove video and audio materials and strengthen control over the content allocated.
“Vulgar content transmitted through these websites is even more harmful due to their fame and influence,” the agency quoted Qin An, an expert on cybersecurity at the China Institute for Innovation and Development Strategy, saying.
The National Copyright Administration has investigated 22,568 cases of piracy across the country and 3,908 websites were closed for copyright infringement in the last five years.
