In China 15 people were sentenced to long terms of imprisonment for ancient tomb-robbing

Beijing. May 31. Silkroadnews - A county court in north China's Shanxi Province has sentenced convicts in five tomb-robbing cases to prison terms ranging from eight to 20 years, SINA.com reports.
According to the Wenxi County Court, the criminals had been robbing protected ancient tombs around the province. One of the convicts, who had previously served a prison sentence for such crimes, was sentenced to 15 years in prison and fined 300,000 yuan ($46,675).
Shanxi is known for 452 state-protected cultural relics and more than 28,000 ancient architectural sites - the largest number among all the provinces.
Recently, the province carried out an exhibition featuring 4,431 relics that were stolen and then returned to the state.
