In first three days of Lunar New Year holiday China hosted more than 200 million tourists

Beijing. February 19. Silkroadnews - During the first three days of the Chinese Lunar New Year holiday, China has hosted 214 million tourists, which is 9.7% more than in the same period last year, the National Tourism Administration of China (CNTA) reported, Xinhua wrote.
Revenues from tourism grew 9.9% to 258.2 billion yuan (about $40.69 billion) in three days, CNTA reports. On Saturday alone, around 870 million tourists traveled around the country.
According to the China Railway Corporation (CRC), on the first day of the New Year’s week, the Chinese railways transported 3.85 million passengers, a 8.4% increase compared to the same day last year.
With the expansion of the country’s high-speed railway network, short railway trips have become more popular among the Chinese.
It is expected that about 385 million Chinese will travel during the holiday lasting from February 15 to February 21 this year.
China’s tourism earning last year reached 5.4 trillion yuan.
