Almaty. January 14. Silkroadnews - In Tajikistan the earthquakes are recorded almost on a daily basis in December 2015, the Tajik news agency (TajikTA) reports.
“In Tajikistan the earthquakes are recorded almost on a daily basis in December 2015, most of them are weak and do not pose a threat”, the president of the Academy of Sciences of the country Farhad Rahimi said during a press conference on Thursday.
According to him, the frequent earthquakes in the country shows the earth’s crust layers increased movement. However, people shall not start to panic, he said.
To remind on December 7, 2015, there was a strong earthquake of 7.2 magnitude. Its epicenter was located in the territory of the Murghab district 360 kilometers east of Dushanbe, and 22 km from the mountainous Lake Sarez. This earthquake was also accompanied with another 11 aftershocks with 4.5-5.5 magnitude during the day.
Two people got hurt, thousands of people got homeless with hundreds of houses destroyed. According to the governmental commission on damage control that time the earthquake damage exceeded $3.5 million.
