Almaty. December 13. Silkroadnews - India announced its desire to further develop mutual understanding with China, Xinhua reports.
“Indian President Ram Nath Kovind said his county is willing to further promote mutual understanding and trust and broaden cooperation with China so as to advance the strategic cooperative partnership between the two countries,” the report said.
The Indian president said this during a meeting with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi at the 15th trilateral meeting of foreign ministers from China, Russia and India.
With this Kovind has noted, neighboring countries - India and China - have a long history of friendship, and cooperation between the two sides is not only in the interests of both countries, but also in the interests of peace, stability and development of the region as a whole.
In his turn, Wang Yi said China and India share a wide range of common interests and positions and have a great potential for cooperation, thus, should eliminate mutual suspicions but strengthen mutual understanding.
Wang Yi also met with Indian External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj. According to him, China is ready to deepen cooperation with India in all the sectors to promote the joint development and prosperity of the two countries.
“The bilateral ties went through a serious test after Indian border troops illegally trespassed into the Chinese territory in June, although the standoff was ended eventually through diplomatic means more than two months later, lessons must be learned and efforts must be made to avoid such an incident in the future,” Wang said.
Swaraj stressed that her country has always attached great importance to the development of relations with China and considers ties with China as an important part of its foreign policy.
According to her, the India-China relations have a great influence on the region and the world.
She also noted, her country holds the view that India and China share more common grounds than differences, thus the two sides should enhance strategic communication, promote strategic mutual trust so as to prevent differences from evolving into disputes and avoid disputes deteriorating into conflicts, the report reads.
