Almaty. May 25. Silkroadnews - India intends over the next year and a half to complete the construction of the Iranian sea port Chabahar, the exploitation of which will allow Delhi to establish direct access to the markets of Afghanistan and Central Asia bypassing Pakistan, informs the Iranian News Agency (IrTAG) on Monday.
"Construction work in the port of Chabahar has already begun", - said the Minister of Transport of India Nitin Gadkari.
According to him, already given orders to conduct the relevant tender activities for the purchase of lifting cranes and other equipment necessary for the successful operation of the port of Chabahar.
It is noteworthy that the Indian authorities made a deal with Tehran on the project "Chabahar" despite pressure from the United States, which for several years opposed the participation of Indian capital and companies in the projects of the Islamic Republic. According to some analysts, this step can also be seen as a response to New Delhi at the recent decision of Pakistan and China to start construction of a deep sea port of Gwadar.
