India to remove ban on imports of walnuts from Kyrgyzstan in 2017
Almaty. December 8. Silkroadnews – Starting from 2017 Kyrgyzstan can export its walnuts in India, KyrTAG writes.
“In 2017 India will remove the ban on imports of walnuts from Kyrgyzstan. Until today, Kyrgyz exporters could not deliver their walnuts in India, however, this issue is being solved through the efforts of our ambassadors”, businessman Cantemir Amitov said during the Bishkek Investment Forum (BIF) 2016 on Thursday.
Walnut is grown in the south of Kyrgyzstan – in Arslanbob, Bazar-Korgon, Nooken and Suzak regions. Walnut planted area makes 41 thousand hectares, and nut-bearing planted area makes 600 thousand hectares. Every year Kyrgyzstan exports to Iran, Turkey, China, South Korea, France, Holland, Russia. For the recent years China’s demand has been growing as well.
