International Women Film Festival was held in Kabul

Almaty. October 26. Silkroadnews – International Women Film Festival was held in Kabul, Afghan news agency (AfTAG) reports.

“In Afghanistan women's filming runs into considerable difficulties, but the fair sex fights for their rights for creative expression. The filmmakers have an opportunity to tell about the human values”, film director from Afghanistan Roya Sadat said.

R. Sadat hopes the art of cinema will contribute to restore peace in the country, having noted the need to draw attention to the fight against inequality, discrimination and violations of women’s rights.

More than 200 full-length and short films were shown to the audience during the five days of the festival. Not all the films were produced by women directors, yet, theme of women’s fate runs through all the works presented during the event.

The winners have been chosen in 13 categories, four Afghan films have been awarded.

The film festival was attended by guests from Russia, US, China, Kyrgyzstan, Iran, Germany, France, Italy and Turkey, Lebanon, Egypt, India and several other countries of Europe and Asia.

This year the International Women Film Festival has been carried out for the fourth time.
