Investment agreement on TAPI gas pipeline project has been signed in Ashgabat

Almaty. April 8. Silkroadnews - The shareholders of the international consortium TAPI Pipeline Company Limited signed an investment agreement on construction of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) gas pipeline in Ashgabat on Thursday, Trend reports.

According to the Ministry of Oil and Gas of Turkmenistan, the initial budget of project will exceed $200 million and shall go to fund the next phase of the TAPI gas pipeline implementation.
This includes funding for detailed engineering and route survey, environmental and social studies and other operational activities to determine the total investments required for the construction of the entire pipeline. According to the experts, the construction is estimated to take up to 3 years.

The states parties Ashgabat interstate agreement on start of the project practical realization signed in 2012 is the project core document.

The ceremony for the construction launch of the Turkmen section of the TAPI with capacity up to 33 billion cubic meters of gas was held in mid-December last year. The total length of the pipeline will be 1735 km, of which more than 200 km to go through the territory of Turkmenistan, 735km in the territory of Afghanistan, 800km in the territory of Pakistan to Fazilka village on the border with India.
