Iran adopted a law on combating forex smuggling

Beijing. June 15. Silkroadnews - Iranian lawmakers have adopted a bill on amending the law on combating the smuggling of foreign currency, especially the US dollar, the Iranian Telegraph Agency (IrTAG) reports.
Of the 220 active deputies, 137 voted in favor of the bill, 43 voted against, and 8 lawmakers abstained, Mehr News Agency writes.
A member of the Economic Commission of the Parliament Mohammadreza Pour Ebrahimi said the commission had previously held a series of consultations with various government bodies to combat the smuggling of foreign currency.
Ebrahimi noted, they will work hand in hand with the government in terms of serious counteraction to the smuggling of foreign currency.
Iran’s national currency the Rial has recently lost more than 30% of its value against foreign currencies as a result of the sanctions imposed by the United States.
