Iran and Armenia have agreed to strengthen cooperation in the economic sphere

Almaty. December 19. SIlkroadnews - Iran and Armenia have agreed to strengthen cooperation in the economic sphere, informed the Iranian News Agency (IrTAG) on Friday.
As the co-chair of the intergovernmental commission from the Iranian side, Iran's Energy Minister Hamid Chitchian,  these agreements provide incentives for bilateral cooperation in the fields of energy, transport, agriculture, finance and broadcasting.
The parties also agreed to start the construction of the third line of electric networks in March 2015.
The project will also build discharge tunnel with length of 18 km and an inner diameter of 8.5 m. In this case, produced in Meghri HPP electricity will be transferred to Iran under construction investor transmission line capacity of 230 kW. 15 years later the HPP will pass to the Armenian side.
Meanwhile, the head of the Iranian Energy Minister noted that the volume of electricity exchange between Iran and Armenia to date exceeds 1 billion kWh per year, and expressed the hope that in the near future, this figure will be significantly increased.
