Almaty. August 11. Silkroadnews – Iran and Azerbaijan increased mutual supplies of electricity by 2.5 times, IrTAG writes.
“With this line Iran and Azerbaijan have increased exchange of electricity from 200 MW to 500 MW”, Iranian Energy Minister Hamid Chitchian said.
A new 52-km power line for 330-kW was put into operation between Iran and Azerbaijan.
The minister noted, Iran and Azerbaijan have a great potential for further expansion of cooperation in the electricity sector.
According to information available, currently Iran’s productive potential in electricity sector stands at 75 thousand megawatts. By 2025, H. Chitchian added, this volume shall make 125 thousand megawatts.
Azerbaijan’s electric power system generation makes 7160 MW, allowing annual electricity output of about 24 billion kilowatts/hours and export of 2.1 billion kilowatt/hours of electricity.
