Iran and Azerbaijan plan to raise electricity exchange volume up to 500 MW

Almaty. May 30. Silkroadnews – Iran and Azerbaijan plan to raise electricity exchange volume up to 500 MW, Deputy Energy Minister in Electricity and Energy Affairs of Iran Houshang Falahatian said, IrTAG reports.

According to H. Falahatian, the infrastructure required shall be ready within a month. Currently, the energy volume between Tehran and Baku reach 10 MW. The deputy minister expressed the hope this indicator shall increase as soon as works on the infrastructure building are over.

Azerbaijan is reported to start selling electricity to Iran after the completion of the Mugan transmission line construction.

Memorandum of understanding on electricity exchange between Iran and Azerbaijan was signed in December of the last year.
