Iran and China have started their cooperation on heavy water production
Almaty. October 10. Silkroadnews – Iran and China have started their technical cooperation on the Arak heavy water reactor, Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister Majid Takht-Ravanchi said, Trend reports.
According to JCPOA, Iran has agreed to redesign IR-40 reactor with the assistance of the P5+1 mediators to minimize its potential for weapons-grade plutonium production.
Iran has also agreed to remove the reactor core and fill it with concrete to render it unusable and export all spent fuel within one year after its removal from the reactor.
Iran has already sold heavy water received at Arak in recent years to foreign countries, including the U.S.
