Iran and Italy have agreed on light motor vehicles joint production
Almaty. February 8. Silkroadnews - Iran Khodro and Fiat negotiate to set up a joint production of cars in Iran, reports IrTAG.
“The deal has not been committed to the paper yet, though the negotiations between the two automobile manufacturers are carried out quite successfully. The parties agreed that Fiat cars will be produced in Iran and some of them will be exported to the countries within the region. However, the key focus will be made to meet the domestic demand in the Islamic Republic of Iran,” - said the chairman of the Iranian-Italian Joint Chamber Ahmad Purfallah.
He also explained the production will be established based on the joint investments.
“It was agreed that Fiat takes over responsibility to share their “know-how”, while Iran provides the enterprise with labor force and energy. However, the issue of the investments volume is being discussed at present through the negotiations,” - continued the head of the Iranian-Italian Joint Chamber.
As for the cars product range expected to produce in Iran, A. Purfallah noted that this refers to the line-up from Fiat 500cc to the cars of a higher class with the fuel-efficient engine.
